My mom and I went on a holiday home tour several weeks ago and at one of the homes, they were serving Mulled Wine. I had never tried Mulled Wine before, and clearly I had been missing out! Mulled Wine has quickly turned into one of my favourite warm holiday drinks. It has all the wintery ‘feels’ with flavours (and scents) of citrus, cinnamon, maple, and pomegranate. You’ll love whipping  a batch of this up just for the aroma alone; it’s heavenly! 

Serve this at your next holiday party or make a batch for yourself and store it in the fridge for a couple of days! Enjoy!

Slow Cooker Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of red wine of choice
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • Optional: 1/4 cup liquor of choice (I used an apricot liqueur) 
  • 1/2 orange, thinly sliced with rind on  (save the other half of the orange and squeeze the juices into the pot)
  • Pomegranate seeds of 1/2 of one pomegranate 
  • 1 tbsp whole cloves
  • 2 star anise 
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks

Instructions

Toss everything into a slow cooker and cook on low for approximately 1 hour,  then turn to ‘keep warm’ setting. When ready to serve, pour the mulled wine into a canister for guests to help themselves or serve directly from slow cooker. Enjoy!
