Okay, ladies…this post is all about my makeup routine. The truth is…I love makeup. But, I typically don’t stray too far from my everyday ‘look’, as I usually don’t have a ton of time in the morning and like a quick and easy makeup routine.
So, if you’re curious about what I use on the daily, read further for my full makeup routine!
Prepping the Skin
I really do believe in the power of a good skincare regime. Most of my instagram followers know that I LOVE Skinceuticals and I’ve truly noticed such a difference in my overall complexion since I’ve started using their products.
I start my morning skincare routine with the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Serum which is an antioxidant treatment with Vitamin C, and helps to protect against environmental toxins, improves the appearance of fine lines and brightens your overall complexion. It’s truly a miracle serum, guys. I’ve never used a product that has made such a difference in my overall complexion. It’s super pricey but it works, period.
My skin is incredibly dry in the Winter, so I use the Triple Lipid Restore which is an extremely hydrating anti aging cream. It’s contains anti-aging properties and it’s amazing for those suffering from dry skin.
Makeup Routine: Foundation
My all time favourite foundation (and I’ve tried a LOT), is the Born This Way Foundation by Too Faced. It’s AMAZING and leaves my skin dewy, hydrated and flawless. I have always used the Beauty Blender for foundation application, as I find my foundation goes on evenly with this particular sponge.
I struggle with dark circles under my eyes….#momlife, and I’m pretty sure I’ve tried 10 concealers to try and cover these babies up. I have two favourites. The one I’m currently using is actually a foundation stick, but I use it as an under eye concealer because it’s a bit heavier and covers those dark circles really well. If like me, you’ve got lots to cover, I highly recommend the Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick by Hourglass.
If you don’t struggle as much with this, but you’re looking for a concealer that will brighten the eyes and cover pimples that like to show themselves at certain times of the month, I’d recommend trying the Bareskin Complete Coverage Concealer by BareMinerals. I also love this concealer because it doesn’t crease with any under eye fine lines!
Highlighting and Contouring
I feel like so many women get scared when they think of highlighting and contouring. It can seem a bit intimidating, but honestly, it’s actually very simple to do! I absolutely LOVE my Too Faced Highlighting Palette. If you’re looking for one product that will do it all, this is the one! The highlighter in this palette is amazing and creates a gorgeous glow, and bonus…it smells like peaches! This palette has the highlighter, bronzer for contouring, and a peachy coloured blush included.
Another contouring palette I LOVE (and is fantastic for those just getting into contouring), is the Anastasia Contour Kit. Within the palette, there are various colours to choose from, which allows you to choose how heavy or mild you want your contour colour to be. This palette also shows you how to correctly contour; perfect for those just getting into it!
If you’re looking for a product to help with brow shaping, I love the Brow Powder duo by Anastasia Beverly Hills. If you’re looking for more of a gel formula, I love the Browfood Brow Gel. It adds a natural colour to my brows without looking artificial.
I typically don’t do too much with my eyes. I have my staples that I use on a daily basis, but my eye routine is pretty basic.
I use Maybelline Liquid Eyeliner and find it goes on evenly and doesn’t smudge (and bonus, it’s only $8.00). I then use the Brow Powder Duo by Anastasia Beverly Hills for the outer corners of my under eyes, as I find the eyeliner is way too dark for that part of my face, and the powder does just enough to make my eyes pop.
I like using a light gold eye shadow to brighten my eyes and offer a bit of colour. My favourite shadow palette is Clay in colour ‘Necessary Nudes’ by E.L.F (and it’s only $6)!
Now, onto mascara. I’ll be honest…I don’t spend much on mascara. I have naturally long lashes so I’ve never really needed to invest in an expensive mascara. My go-to is Maybelline New York Falsies Mascara. I really do love it! I find it adds both length and volume – just enough eye drama!
As a side note – I like to use a white eyeliner under my eyes (on my actual eye waterline) because it really brightens my eyes. It’s amazing what a difference it makes, and once you have your mascara on, the white liner isn’t noticeable. I also add highlighter to the inner corners of my eyes which brightens them and makes me look more awake.
I’m obsessed with lipstick, guys…and I am majorly OBSESSED with this lipliner I just discovered – Lip Cheat by Charlotte Tilbury. I use the colour ‘Pillow Talk’ to gently overline my lips (VERY minimally so it doesn’t look fake). But this lipliner blends in so perfectly with my natural lip colour while adding just a bit of colour. It’s my absolute favourite lip product!
For lipstick, I like to switch it up depending on my mood and what I’m doing that day. A few of my favourites: Please Me by Mac (it’s really my ‘every day’ lipstick and offers just enough colour, but not too much).
I also love Fanfare by Mac and Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Dainty.
Hands down, my favourite finishing powder is the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. It keeps my makeup in place and doesn’t dry out my skin.
So there you have it, my go-to makeup and skincare products. Also, I LOVE getting ideas from you, so share with me on Instagram or in the comments section of this blog post if I’m missing out on an AMAZING products!
Lots of love,
