When I was asked to join these beautiful ladies on sharing a Day in the Life, I was super excited! For some reason, I find it fascinating reading about how other people spend their days…specifically women and mothers. What do their 24 hours look like? There’s something interesting about it, so I hopped on board.
Finding balance in life is one of those topics that I think most people struggle with. We all have so many areas of our lives that we desperately want to juggle perfectly – family life, a job, home, friends…the list goes on. And what I’ve realized is that many of us put a ton of pressure on ourselves to achieve this “perfect” balance. When we can’t keep up, the guilt weighs heavy on us. I know personally speaking, I have struggled with this a lot.
A little bit of realness right here. Sometimes I get people messaging me asking me how I always have my “ducks in order.” How my home is always perfectly clean, whether my kids fight (ALL OF THE TIME), and if I ever wear sweats all day. It made me feel like I needed to write a brief blog post talking about My Honest Motherhood.
My first born daughter, Mila is now three and a half years old. She’s starting preschool next week, and this milestone has me pretty emotional. For me, it’s a symbol that she’s becoming more independent, and therefore she will become just a little bit more aware of the world (and the good – and not so good things about it). I know, I know. For God’s sake Alex – it’s not like she’s starting college! Trust me…I realize that I’m probably more emotional than I need to be.
This post is near and dear to my heart. It’s funny how certain topics can trigger deep seeded emotions in someone, and well, this topic does that for me. When someone I know is going through a difficult pregnancy, I can feel their emotions in my heart and I ache for them, because I too had a very challenging one with my first born daughter.
