I hope everyone had an amazing weekend. Last week was such a whirlwind for us as Brielle came down with a horrible cold and I had a crazy busy work week, so we were all excited to unwind and relax this weekend.
I’ll admit, I have a difficult time doing nothing. I get antsy if I sit around too long, and I find I like to keep busy on the weekends with fun family outings, dinner parties or errand running. However, this weekend I simply wanted to kick back and be present with Nick and the girls.
We had such a lazy Sunday morning. Brielle and Mila came into bed with us at 6:30am and we all snuggled and relaxed for an hour. When we got up, Nick made us eggs for breakfast and the girls watched cartoons. It was a slow start to the day and we didn’t get out of our PJs until 10.
I’m trying to get in the habit of food prepping every Sunday for the week ahead. Mila and Brielle wanted to make their favourite Healthy Apple Crumble recipe – it takes 15 minutes to throw together and it’s delicious. It’s also a much healthier alternative to Apple Crumble and is ‘breakfast approved’ in our house.
For some reason, Brielle has been struggling with breakfasts lately. First thing in the morning, she often gags at the sight of food and it takes her at least an hour before she wants to eat. Has anyone else encountered this with their little one? I’ve been trying to get creative with her breakfasts and she seems to really like this Apple Crumble recipe, so it has become our go-to.
Now to my weekend wardrobe. I love being comfortable and casual. Most of my weekend outfits consist of: distressed jeans, a cute tee and my go-to Victoria Emerson accessories.
Since Victoria Emerson sent me this stunning boho bracelet and rose gold watch, I’ve been obsessed. I’m picky when it comes to my accessories and I’m super excited I’ve found a brand I love . This bracelet has a magnetic clasp and the colours/patterns are gorgeous together.
I like to wear my rose gold watch on the same wrist for more of a layered look, and they compliment both casual and dressy attire.
Aside from Sunday food prep, we usually do a run to the grocery store and I always pick up a small bunch of fresh flowers for the week ahead. If you follow me on Instagram, you know how much I adore fresh blooms.
Once we got back from the grocery store I put together a little package for a good friend who is going through a difficult pregnancy right now. My heart aches for the challenges she is facing but she is one incredibly strong mama and I’m so blessed to have her in my life.
I make a big effort to try and have the house clean in preparation for the work week. For me, there’s nothing worse than starting Monday off with a messy, unorganized home. We typically have Sunday dinner with either my parents or Nick’s side, then we unwind for the night (i.e. catch up on Big Brother, The Bachelor, or Suits….guilty pleasures).
Wishing everyone an amazing week ahead!
